From 20.10.2026 18:30:00 until 20.10.2026 21:00:00The Permis Mer licence (issued by the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade) is the only mandatory licence authorizing the operation of a pleasure craft under the Luxembourg flag. It permits the operation of boats and pleasure vessels flying the Luxembourg maritime flag in sea waters without any area limitations (coastal and offshore navigation). The course content focuses primarily on behaviour on the water (rules of the road and steering, navigation within buoyage systems, identifying types of vessels and their courses by day and night), as well as providing in-depth knowledge of coastal navigation and meteorology. The CÔTIER PLUS licence authorizes its holder to operate a pleasure craft of up to 20 metres in length in sea waters up to six nautical miles from the coast. The language of instruction is Luxembourgish. The courses will take place at the Lycée de Garçons, 41A, avenue Victor Hugo, L-1750 Luxembourg. A course in English will be offered shortly. -
From 27.10.2026 18:30:00 until 27.10.2026 21:00:00The Sea Licence (issued by the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade) authorises its holder to operate pleasure craft (sailing and motor vessels) of up to 24 metres in length, in maritime waters without any area limitations (coastal and offshore navigation). The course content focuses primarily on behaviour on the water (collision regulations, navigation within buoyage systems, identifying types of vessels and their courses by day and night, etc.), as well as providing in-depth knowledge of coastal navigation and meteorology. The Coastal Plus Licence (issued by the Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade) authorises its holder to operate pleasure craft of up to 20 metres in length, in sea waters up to 6 nautical miles from the coast. The language of instruction is English. The courses will take place at the Lycée de Garçons, 41A, avenue Victor Hugo, L-1750 Luxembourg. - November 2026

The theory covered in this course is limited to meteorology for onboard practice. Below is an overview of the topics. 1 Fundamentals, terminology 2 Clouds 3 Meteorological phenomena 4 Rules of weather interpretation 5 Weather in the North Sea, Baltic Sea, and Mediterranean 6 Sea state 7 Meteorological measuring instruments 8 Collection and interpretation of marine weather reports 9 Weather information reception systems / GRIB data 10 iMeteo and apps 11 Weather routing 12 Test exercise The course instructor, Serge Courtois, will be happy to answer your questions, such as how weather services work, what sailors need to pay attention to when using weather forecasts, and what the risks of weather apps are. The course will take place from 10:00–12:00 and 13:00–16:00 on Saturday (autumn 2026) at LGL, 41A avenue Victor Hugo, L-1750 Luxembourg. The course is conducted in the Luxembourgish language. Si le choix se porte pour une demi-cabine n'hésitez pas à communiquer via mail au responsable du stage avec qui vous souhaitiez partager votre cabine.
