Sailing along the French coast offers an incredible variety of landscapes and atmospheres. From northern Brittany to the Atlantic coast, via the Channel Islands, every stage of the journey brings new discoveries.
Our journey will take us along the rugged coastline of northern Brittany, with its dramatic headlands, estuaries and characterful ports, before reaching the Channel Islands, where Jersey, Guernsey, Herm and Sark offer wonderfully different and memorable places to visit. Further south, we will explore southern Brittany, including Quiberon Bay, Belle-Île, Houat, Hoëdic and the Gulf of Morbihan. We will then continue along the Vendée and Charente-Maritime coasts, discovering Noirmoutier, Île d’Yeu, La Rochelle, Île d’Oléron and many other ports well worth visiting and exploring.

Correctly assessing weather forecasts and GRIB files and acting accordingly is one of the most important foundations for a safe and relaxed passage. The theory covered in this course is limited to meteorology for onboard practice. Below is an overview of the topics.

The course instructor, Serge Courtois, will be happy to answer your questions, such as how weather services work, what sailors need to pay attention to when using weather forecasts, and what the risks of weather apps are. The course will take place from 10:00–12:00 and 13:00–16:00 on Saturday (autumn 2026) at LGL, 41A avenue Victor Hugo, L-1750 Luxembourg. The course is conducted in the Luxembourgish language. Sea Licence and Coastal Plus Licence (EN)

All licences – Sea (offshore) and Coastal Plus – consist of a theoretical part and a practical part (training course), which are payable separately. For anyone who has never sailed on a sailing yacht, an introductory sailing course is strongly recommended. A first course will be organised over the weekend of 19–20 September 2026, departing from Bruinisse in Zeeland (Netherlands), and the candidate will receive the FLV Certificate A.
The Sea Licence (Permis Mer) entitles its holder to operate pleasure craft of up to 24 m in length, in maritime waters, without any limitation of navigation area.
The Coastal Plus Licence (Permis Côtier Plus) entitles its holder to operate pleasure craft of up to 20 metres in length, in maritime waters up to 6 nautical miles from the coast.
Both licences allow the operation of sailing and/or motor vessels.
Minimum age: 16 years on the day of the examination (parental authorisation required for minors).
The practical training course for both licences is the same (one-week training course on a cruising sailing yacht).
The session will start Tuesday, the 27th of October 2026. To register, click here. The courses for both licences share a common core syllabus. The language of instruction is English. Courses will take place at: Lycée de Garçons 41A, avenue Victor Hugo L-1750 Luxembourg
according to the following schedule:

Tuesday, 27 October 2026: 18:30–21:00
(only the first lesson starts at 18:30 – distribution of materials) -
Tuesday, 10 November 2026: 19:00–21:00, and then every Tuesday from 19:00 to 21:00
(except during school holidays)
In addition, two Saturday morning sessions will be held on 31 October 2026 and 28 November 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00.

The number of registrations per course is limited. The organiser reserves the right to split courses or to deliver the course in hybrid format (in-person and videoconference).
Stage en Hollande (Formation Permis Mer, Côtier plus et A-Mer)

Ce stage aura lieu au départ de St Annaland en Hollande (Enjoy Sailing) du lundi, le 29.3.2027 au soir jusqu'au dimanche, le 4.4.27 fin après-midi. Les stagiaires Permis Mer, Côtier plus, Avancés (level beginner) ou A-Mer peuvent s'inscrire en choisissant une demi-cabine pour le prix de 750 € ou bien une cabine (en occupation simple) pour le prix de 1250 €. Pour occuper une cabine à deux personnes, les deux sont invités à s'incrire séparément pour une demi-cabine chacun.
Si votre choix se porte pour une demi-cabine n'hésitez pas à communiquer via mail au responsable du stage avec qui vous souhaitiez partager votre cabine.
La majorité des places disponibles est réservée pour les candidats Permis Mer.

Membership card: Renewing your membership in advance is possible!
Log in (by clicking the Login button at the top right after entering your username and password) and check the validity period of your membership card. To do so, select “Membership Card” from the “Member” menu.
Click on your membership type, i.e. Ordinary, Family, Child, or Student, then select “Advance Renewal”.
Choose your payment method:
a) PayPal: credit card payment via PayPal. Continue with “Renewal” and pay immediately through PayPal.
b) Bank transfer: transfer your annual membership fee to the GLCR account
